Exploring Copenhagen

Explore Jernbanebyen

The new Green Neighbourhood

Tour 9.

Project: VELUX Living Places Render: EFFEKT architects

Jernbanebyen is a former `hidden` workshop area for Danish State rail in Copenhagen. The future new Green neighbourhood will be a landmark for sustainable urban development. Recently the first student tenants has moved in side by side with wooden hangars transformed into social venues for social dining. We explore the unique atmospheres on a 4 hours walking tour through new transformations and temporary projects amongst others:

Living Places + EFFEKT

Welcome to Living Places Copenhagen - an experimental living environment set out to demonstrate that we do not have to wait for future technology to move and improve people’s lives while caring for the planet. VELUX, has together with their partners EFFEKT and MOE decided to make an impact in the building industry. An industry accounting for up to 40% of global energy consumption and CO2 emissions. A platform for investors, contractors, engineers, architects, and other specialist experts to join forces in a pioneering, multidisciplinary initiative that reconnects people and the planet.

Boliglaboratorium

The `Boliglaboratorium` creates space for housing experiments and a rethinking of Danish residential architecture.

Jernbanebyen + COBE

The railway city is the last major piece of urban development in southern Copenhagen. Over the coming years, the landowners, DSB Ejendomsudvikling A/S, Freja Ejendomme A/S and Baneby Konsortiet, will develop the 365,000 m2 development area into a new, modern district.

CPH Village Vesterbro | Archgency

CPH Village Vesterbro is another project of the popular modular housing for students in Copenhagen. The 184 new student homes are, almost literally, on the rails. The modular homes are located in near proximity to Copenhagen Central Station

BANEGAARDEN | Rønnow Arkitekter

We will wrap up the tour in the heart of DSB’s old railway maintenance area where Banegaarden invites the curious to Social Dining. Explore the wooden sheds normally closed to the public in surroundings from another time period, and see with your own eyes the area’s transformation from decay to green urban oasis.
